Crafting Desert Divas Monthly Challenge - Pastels!

Well if you follow my Instagram you'll most likely have seen than I loooove pastels!  I especially love pinks and purples :)

For this months CDD challenge I chose to go with the pastel theme (you could have also chosen interactive cards) and I absolutely love how it turned out and I really enjoyed pulling out all of my CDD goodies!

For the background of my card I used four shades of distress ink:
- wilted violet
- tumbled glass
- worn lipstick
- squeezed lemonade
I used a make up brush to lightly blend on the colour and build the colour up slowly.  I then smooshed some of the ink pad on to my glass mat (I first started with wilted violet), loosened it with some water and then used a paint brush to splatter on some purple droplets.  To protect the rest of the panel (blue, pink and yellow sections) I used a paper towel to lightly cover them while I splattered each section.  I then repeated the splatter process on each of the colours (blue on blue, yellow on yellow etc).  I trimmed down my panel to 4"x5
25" and used double sided adhesive to secure it to a white A2 side folding card base.
I used the 2nd largest die from the inside scalloped rectangle frame die set and cut it from some heavyweight white card and then secured this to the center of  the pastel card panel using some liquid adhesive.
The clouds were cut from some heavyweight white card with CDD puffy cloud die and lightly ink blended around the edges with the same distress inks as the background.  These were also adhered to the card with liquid adhesive.

My bunny on a swing comes from the stamp set 'Look for Stars' which is full of adorable images.  I stamped the image with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink on some copic friendly cardstock.  I used the following copic markers to colour my image:
* Bunny - W4, W3, W1, W00, RV10
* Onsie - BV13, BV02, BV01, BV31
* Heart/Bows - R85, R83, R81
* Stars - Y13, Y11
Swing - BG34, BG11 (rope), E35, E33, E25 (seat)

I fussy cut the bunny and used liquid adhesive to secure to the card base.  I used a white gel pen to highlight a few points on the image.  I popped some Nuvo Aqua shimmer pen on the clouds, stars and heart and some glossy accents on the heart and star for a little pop of dimension.  I secured some confetti stars from the 'fairy dust' sequin mix with liquid glue on to the pastel background.
I hope you enjoyed this card and look forward to seeing you again soon!

Shaker card & colouring with polychromo pencils

Hi my lovely crafty friends!  Today I share with you this very cute, pink and sweet shaker card!  I'm also using my Faber Castell Polychromo pencils on a card for the first time!
I'ved used lots of different stamps and goodies from my stash...scalloped heart dies from Pretty Pink Posh, Joyful Mouse stamps from Hello Bluebird and Carnival Cupcake stamps from Mama Elephant.

I have created my pink background panel by layering ink with an ink smooshing technique.  I have layered several heart scallop frames to create a shaker window and filled it with some lovely pastel confetti pieces from my stash.

The colouring of my images was kept soft with just a few colouring pencils and some odourless mineral sprit (the one I use is listed below) and paper blending stumps.

If you would like to see how I put this card together from start to finish then just click the link below to watch my YouTube Video!

Birthday Card ft. Mama Elephant 'Lunar Animals' - #ctd532

Hello and welcome to my blog!  For this post I'm sharing a card I made inspired by the colours in this weeks Color Throwdown Challenge (ctd532).
I've been struggling to get my crafty juices to flow so thought following along with a few colour and sketch challenges might help me to get out of my rut.  I have used these colours in my background of my card on some Daler & Rowney Watercolour card to start the basis of my scene.  I first started with the ground and grass and then moved on to creating some fluffy clouds with my MFT mini cloud stencil.  Once the background was complete I added a few perfect pearl splatters to my background to add a little shimmer and interest.
For my animals I stamped them on to copic friendly cardstock with memento tuxedo black ink.  I coloured all the animals and birds with copic markers.  I've listed all the colours I used down in the list below and also on my colour map visual.

I cut the MFT farm fence from some white cardstock and lighted shaded it with some gray flannel dye in ink for a little extra dimension.  I adhered the farm fence to the card at the top part of the green (grass) section.

I had the 'Happy' seniment already stamped and cut out on my desk and thought I would use it for the sentiment on this card and would work well with the birds.  I used some pink zig markers to colour this.

The word 'birthday' was stamped and heat embossed in Versafine oxyn black ink and coated with clear embossing powder.  I heat set with my heat gun until shiny and glossy.

I trimmed the card panel down to 5.25" x 4", applied adhesive to the back of the panel and secured on to an A2 size card base.

Finally I adhered all my elements on to the card using a combination of foam tape and liquid adhesive.

I popped a few white dots on to some of the animals cheeks and my card was complete!

Cute Birthday Sliding Window Card

Hi everyone!
Thanks for joining me back on my blog!  Today I'm sharing this super cute interactive card using lots of different dies and stamps from my stash (all listed below).
I created a panel of super soft fluffy clouds using a mini cloud stencil and tumbled glass distress ink.  I then used the sunny studio stamps sliding window die to cut the interactive sliding panel and a half-moon notch at the top.  I adhered a pane measuring 3.25"x5" to the back side of the cloudy panel to create the pull mechanism.

The rainbow die is cut from heavy weight white cardstock and each rainbow ray is individually inked with distress inks in pastel shades.

I coloured my cute unicorn with Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers on Strathmore Bristol Smooth cardstock and adhered him on to the rainbow along with some die cut clouds.
For my hidden widow panel I stamped a sentiment from the Be A Unicorn stamp set by Avery Elle an added a few stamped stars and some shimmery paint splatters.  For the front panel sentiment I cut the word 'happy' three times for a dimensional die cut and heat embossed the word 'birthday' with some silver embossing powder.

Finally, to finish off the card I used my Mama Elephant 'confetti' die to cut some silver glitter card and used just the stars in various sizes.  The whole panel was adhered to a side folding A2 size cardbase with Scotch 3M foam tape.  Be sure to check out my video to see how I put together the card!

See you next time! xxx

One Layer Valentines Card ft. Cool Cat and Quilted Heart Background Stamps

Hi Everyone, today I am back a love themed card, perfect for Valentines Day!  I've had these cute little Cool Cat stamps by MFT for ages and I have finally got around to using them!
I don't have the co-ordinating dies for this stamp set so it is perfect for one layer cards and masking techniques!

I firstly cut and stamped out all the masks I needed on to Hunkydory masking paper - I like this masking paper because you stamp on one side and then remove the backing paper when you are ready to use your mask...not too fiddly!

 I then began stamping out my images onto to my card panel which was a 4.25" x 5.5" piece of copic friendly cardstock (250gsm) and ensured I worked forwards (closest images first) to backwards (stamped the images furthest away last)

I covered the wall background with a light layer of spun sugar distress ink and then used the Quilted Heart Background stamp from Simon Says stamp to stamp out the detail on the wall...I used spun sugar again for this giving a tone on tone background.

I used some more distress inks to shade the baseboards and carpet/flooring.

The images were coloured with my copic markers (colours listed below).

For my sentiment I used a 'love' scripty word die cut out several times from coloured cardstock with the top layer coloured with my copic markers for an ombre look.

I coated the 'love' word with Nuvo shimmer pen and a layer of glossy accents :)

I hope you liked this card!  If you'd like to see how I made it with a video tutorial just click the image below!
